Oruawharo River Trail (Biking) is located in Atiu Creek regional park
This is a shared walking, mountain biking and horse riding track. Please keep to the left and be mindful of other users.
This multi-use walking, mountain biking and horse riding loop can be experienced in both directions. It provides great views of the park, the Kaipara Harbour and plentiful picnic spots. The trail passes the Pou Kaitiaki and continues along the ridgeline crossing farm paddocks before passing below Heretoka Pa (please no mountain biking on the pa). Enjoy the views before heading down the ridge past the Oweka Tapu Pou that overlooks Solomon’s Bay. Follow the farm track to the woolshed and up the hill to the main car park. Buggies and prams can follow this track but be aware that there are some locked gates that these will need to be lifted over. The trail can be extended by taking the side trail to Ti Tree Point. Follow the red markers.
Mountain bike tracks are graded using the New Zealand Mountain Bike Association grading system. Please refer to the individual track description for more detail.
