Tom Thumb Track is located in Huia regional park
Auckland Council’s Environment and Community Committee voted on 5 December to close several high-risk and medium-risk tracks in the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park to limit the spread of kauri dieback disease .
This track is closed until further notice.

From Karamatura Track, Tom Thumb Track crosses Karamatura Stream (unsafe when in flood), then ascends steeply to lead around bluffs with views of the Manukau Harbour. Track continues over fairly even ground then climbs to meet Twin Peaks Track beside ‘Tom Thumb’ Kauri.
Suitable for people of reasonable fitness and experience.
Theft from vehicles is not common but unfortunately can happen.
You should take the same reasonable precautions you take when parking at other locations and remember to lock your vehicle and take your valuables with you.
