Ernies Track

Other tracks

Ernies Track starts from Waterline Road and descends through regenerating bush before following the western edge of the Mangatawhiri Dam. Continue through bush, across swamps, gullies and the Mangatawhiri River. The track then climbs steeply to follow the ridge, passing a disused manganese mine before descending to Piggotts Campground at Lilburne Road. Suitable for experienced trampers only. This track has a river crossing and can be dangerous after heavy rain in the upper catchment.
