Muriwai Lookout Track is located in Muriwai regional park
Though bush walking may not be the main reason for most people to visit Muriwai, the Muriwai Lookout Track should be able to convince most people that perhaps it should be. The track has a good surface and winds past mature coastal bush before displaying some of the best views on the west coast from the lookout platform. A great place for a spot of lunch or to watch the sunset.
Starts from Motutara Road approximately 100m east of the park shop. The track climbs a steep stairway to Domain Crescent, then recommences 150m further up the road and climbs to a spectacular lookout (20 minutes). From the lookout, track continues through coastal forest to Edwin Mitchelson Track.
Walking tracks should be suitable for people with reasonable fitness levels.
Theft from vehicles is not common but unfortunately can happen.
You should take the same reasonable precautions you take when parking at other locations and remember to lock your vehicle and take your valuables with you.
