Shakespear SCC Campground


Please note that booking hours for regional parks campgrounds, SCC campgrounds, SCC parking areas, baches and bookable sites is as follows:

Daylight saving: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday through to Sunday
Non daylight saving: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday through to Sunday

No bookings can be taken over the phone (or in person on site) outside of these times.

No cash payments are available at any time on park. We strongly recommend that you call our contact centre in advance of your arrival on park on (09) 366 2000, option 1, to make your booking.

Animals (except aid dogs) are prohibited at all times.

Remember to be a tidy Kiwi!

All our regional parks are rubbish free. Whether you call it rubbish, trash or garbage, please bag it all up and recycle it or throw it away when you return home.

Important notice

Due to a large slip this campground has been CLOSED for the foreseeable future.  Please call our Contact Centre staff on (09)301 0101 to discuss alternative SCC camping options.
When the slip has been stabilised, the campground will be reopened for bookings.

About Shakespear SCC Campground

Vehicle/Unit must have current NZC5465: Self-Containment certificate that is issued by an authorised person from Ministry for the Environment.

Flat grass area with all weather access and 4 hard stand bays off the access road. There are large pohutukawa trees along the eastern side of the campground providing great shade over the summer months.

Access: The SCC camp ground and the park are not accessible after park closing times. The combination codes will not open the main park entrance gate

Only caravans, 5th Wheelers, campervans and small buses.

Must have a current NZC5465. Self-Containment certificate that is issued by an authorised person from Ministry for the Environment.

Person numbers are limited to the registered number for that vehicle/unit, under the NZC5465 certificate.

Prohibited: All trucks and portable container dwellings, Tents, campermatics and all vehicles/units, campervans, 5th Wheelers and caravans WITH OUT a current NZC5465 certificate.
Layout: Flat grassed area with large pohutukawa trees along the eastern side and an all weather access road with 4 all weather hard stand bays.

Please Note:
  • Maximum of 3 consecutive nights allowed at this SCC campground.
  • Vehicle and equipment must be removed from the park on the departure day.

Follow the signs to Te Haruhi Bay from the main park entrance gate. Turn left at the intersection at Te Haruhi Bay, follow the road approx 150 meters and the SCC campground is on the left.
