Mountain bike track

This multi-use walking and mountain biking loop track takes you to the end of the peninsular for stunning views of Kawau Island as well as Little and Great Barrier Islands to the north. You can start from the lagoon car park and head up the south coast or from Anchor Bay car park and head up the north coast. You can return via either coast. The North Coast Track has bike/buggy ramps installed at every gate. Bike/buggy ramps are due to be completed around the South Coast Track by the end of June 2015. If you have the time, take a detour out to the Tokatu Point Lookout and Loop Tracks. Click on Tokatu Point Lookout and Loop Tracks for details. Follow the white marker post.

North-South Coast Tracks (Biking) details

Pram access: Yes. Mountain buggies only. This track is steep in places and can be slippery in the winter.

Mountain bike tracks are graded using the New Zealand Mountain Bike Association grading system. Please refer to the individual track description for more detail.


Theft from vehicles is not common but unfortunately can happen. You should take the same reasonable precautions you take when parking at other locations and remember to lock your vehicle and take your valuables with you.
