Information

Please note that booking hours for regional parks campgrounds, SCC campgrounds, SCC parking areas, baches and bookable sites is as follows:

Daylight saving: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday through to Sunday
Non daylight saving: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday through to Sunday

No bookings can be taken over the phone (or in person on site) outside of these times.

No cash payments are available at any time on park. We strongly recommend that you call our contact centre in advance of your arrival on park on (09) 366 2000, option 1, to make your booking.

Animals (except aid dogs) are prohibited at all times.

Remember to be a tidy Kiwi!

All our regional parks are rubbish free. Whether you call it rubbish, trash or garbage, please bag it all up and recycle it or throw it away when you return home.

Important notice

  • Liquor ban seven days a week, 6pm to 6am the following day, during daylight saving.
  • Tent camping and vehicles without a current NZC5465: Self-Containment certificate are prohibited at all times.
  • Open fires are prohibited at all times

About Te Arai SCC campground

Vehicle/Unit must have current NZC5465: Self-Containment Certificate that is issued by an authorised person from the Ministry for the Environment.  

Flat grassed and metaled area with all-weather access on the front half either side of the access gate. The SCC campground is nestled in behind the dunes, with the odd pohutukawa tree around the edge.

Access: The SCC camp ground is accessible at all times through the access gate with a combination lock.
Permitted:
  • Up to 8 metres in length caravans, 5th-wheelers, campervans and small buses.
  • Must have a current NZC5465: Self-Containment Certificate that is issued by an authorised person from the Ministry for the Environment.
  • Person numbers are limited to the registered number for that vehicle/unit, under the NZC5465 certificate.
Prohibited: All trucks and portable container dwellings, Tents, campermatics and all vehicles/units, campervans, 5th wheelers and caravans over 8 metres and WITHOUT a current NZC5465 certificate
