Please note that booking hours for regional parks campgrounds, SCC campgrounds, SCC parking areas, baches and bookable sites is as follows:

Daylight saving: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday through to Sunday
Non daylight saving: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday through to Sunday

No bookings can be taken over the phone (or in person on site) outside of these times.

No cash payments are available at any time on park. We strongly recommend that you call our contact centre in advance of your arrival on park on (09) 366 2000, option 1, to make your booking.

Animals (except aid dogs) are prohibited at all times.

Remember to be a tidy Kiwi!

All our regional parks are rubbish free. Whether you call it rubbish, trash or garbage, please bag it all up and recycle it or throw it away when you return home.

About Couldrey Homestead, Whitney Room, Grounds and Gardens

Homestead: Historic homestead, Victorian/Edwardian era furnishings, paintings and family stories. Whitney Room: Lounge room of the homestead, named after the Whitney family. Furnished in Victorian/Edwardian era and able to cater for a maximum of 50 persons. Grounds and Gardens: Flat, formal gardens surround the homestead with informal gardens among native and exotic trees surrounding these. Able to cater for a maximum of 100 persons.

Couldrey Homestead

Cost: Adults $3.00, under 16yrs free. Booked school groups $1.50 per person.
Open: 1pm - 4pm to the general public Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays all year AND every day from Boxing Day until Easter Monday (except Christmas Day and Good Friday).
Maximum numbers: Small general public groups, booked group by arrangement.
Used: General viewing and discovery.
Historic homestead: Historical information on the Couldrey and other families who lived in the homestead. An information room with many great stories. Rooms have historical homestead furnishings, with many painting and other displays.
Bookable availability: All year outside of the general public availability opening times and days (except Christmas Day and Good Friday).
Layout: Ground floor has lounge (the Whitney Room), dining room, separate kitchen and information room. Upstairs is the master bedroom, children's bedroom, maid's room, sewing room and large study room.

Whitney Room

Cost: $250.00
Booking availability:  All year, 8am to 12pm and 4.30pm to 8pm when the homestead is open to general public (except Christmas Day and Good Friday), and  8am to 8pm on days the homestead is not open to general public.
Maximum numbers: Up to 50 persons
Used: For ceremonies only.
Room occupation: The room can only be occupied during the agreed times between park opening and closing.
Layout: Large lounge room.
Furnishings: Set up with period furniture and fittings.
Conditions of use:
  • No food, drink, confetti/rice or flower arrangements are permitted in the House (bouquets are permitted).
  • Furniture is not to be moved.
  • A member of the Friends of Couldrey House Charitable Trust must be present during the event.  

Grounds and Gardens

Cost: $120.00
Maximum numbers: Up to 100 persons
Used: For ceremonies only.
Site occupation: The site can only be occupied during the agreed times between park opening and closing.
Marquees: Are NOT permitted. Gazebos are allowed with bookings.
BBQ: None.
Shelter: Trees
Tables: 1 small hardwood garden table with 2 chairs.
Surface: Small flat mown area with formal gardens around the house surrounded by informal gardens among native and exotic trees some with historic protection status. There are two main areas of the gardens that are used for weddings and special ceremonies separated by shell drive ways and foot paths.
Beach: 100m to beach, on the foreshore
Toilets: 50m from toilets
Car park: 30m from carpark
Vehicle access: Access to site available, conditions and additional charge apply.
