Pararaha Valley Campground is located in Whatipu regional park
Please note that booking hours for regional parks campgrounds, SCC campgrounds, SCC parking areas, baches and bookable sites is as follows:
No bookings can be taken over the phone (or in person on site) outside of these times.
No cash payments are available at any time on park. We strongly recommend that you call our contact centre in advance of your arrival on park on (09) 366 2000, option 1, to make your booking.
Animals (except aid dogs) are prohibited at all times.
If you under the age of 18 you will be required to get parental consent to make a campground booking.

All our regional parks are rubbish free. Whether you call it rubbish, trash or garbage, please bag it all up and recycle it or throw it away when you return home.
The Whatipu area is a Scientific Reserve owned by the Department of Conservation and managed on behalf by the Auckland Council Regional Parks. It is a spectacular area of coastal dunes and wetlands.

Accessible by foot only. Closest access is to park at Karekare main car park and walk around Karekare Point (low-mid tide only). Then walk along Whatipu Beach southwards and head inland when you reach Tunnel point. Follow formed track along edge of swamp near cliffs to boardwalk and follow Pararaha Valley track up to campsite. From Whatipu car park follow Gibbons track 3.5km to Muir track, 1.2km to campsite. There are many other tracks by which you can access the campsite.
